Obituary to Jean Pretious - Boravin Otterhounds
The Otterhound world is still reeling with shock from the news of the sudden death of our hounds’ greatest friend and doyen of the breed, Jean Pretious,
who died very suddenly on the night of 11th August 2011.
We send our deepest sympathies to her husband Derek, son Gavin, daughter Deborah and dearly loved granddaughter Holly.
Jean’s Kennel Name, Boravin is the joining together of the endings of both Deborah and Gavin’s names.
Jean, who had been involved with Bloodhounds for many years, fell in love with Otterhounds when she saw Kendal Nimrod at Houndshow in 1978.
Her first hound was Falconcrag Nugget (by Nimrod ex Kendal Melody) followed by her litter sister Nocturn and from that time Jean devoted her life
to Otterhounds. She built a strong relationship with Captain John Bell-Irving, Master of the Dumfriesshire and over time took their Clansman,
Lanyard, Bargeman, Bosun, Tracker and her beloved Traceable into her kennel as well as Kendal Melody and Tempest.
