    THE OTTERHOUND CLUB CRITERIA AND JUDGES LIST 2023

    It is the responsibility of the judge to make sure they meet JEP Level 1.
    Those judges on the B & C Lists may not meet JEP level 1

    TRADITIONAL ROUTE

    KC JEP ROUTE

    A1 BREED SPECIALIST/NON-SPECIALIST

    For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to awards CC's in Otterhound and have completed their first appointment & have the support of The Otterhound Club.

    JEP LEVEL 4

    Attend and passed a breed specific assessment for the Otterhound run by The Kennel Club
    Eligibility to judge
    1. Award CCs in Otterhound.
    2. Any variety classes, groups and BIS at open and limited shows.

    A2 BREED SPECIALIST/NON-SPECIALIST

    For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with the KC requirements and accepted by the KC for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of The Otterhound Club

    A3 BREED SPECIALIST

    1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of The Otterhound Club.
    2.  To have judged a minimum of 30 dogs.
    3.  To have judged 1 breed club show or 2 championship shows without CC’s.
    4.  To have attended and passed the examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures.
    5.  To have attended a confirmation and movement seminar.
    6.  To have attended and passed the otterhound breed specific seminar.
    7.  To have passed the KC points of a dog seminar.
    8.  To have owned or bred a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry to the stud book (save in exceptional circumstances).
    9. To have stewarded for 12 days.

    JEP LEVEL 3

    1. Undergo a minimum of 3 mentoring session with a minimum of 12 months between 1st and 3rd session.
    2.  Be observed judging a Breed Club show, Breed supported Entry Show or a Championship show without CC’s.
    3.  Completed remaining 10 stewarding appointments (one time qualification).
    4. To have owned or bred a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry to the stud book (save in exceptional circumstances).
    5. Have achieved the relevant hands on experience in the line with stated guidelines.

    Band A 15 dogs
    Eligibility to judge
    a) Unlimited classes for Otterhound at limit, open or championship shows without CC's.
    b) AV Classes, groups and BIS at limit shows.

    A3 NON BREED SPECIALIST

    1. Minimum of 5 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of The Otterhound Club.
    2.  To have judged a minimum of 30 dogs.
    3.  To have judged 1 breed club show or 2 championship shows without CC’s.
    4.  To have attended and passed the examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures.
    5.  To have attended a confirmation and movement seminar.
    6.  To have attended and passed the otterhound breed specific seminar.
    7.  To have passed the KC points of a dog seminar.
    8.  To have owned or bred a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry to the stud book (save in exceptional circumstances).
    9.  To have awarded CC’s in one other scent hound. 

    B LIST BREED SPECIALIST

    1.  To have a minimum of 5 years owning and exhibiting Otterhound and have the support of the club.
    2.  To have judged a minimum of 15 otterhounds over a minimum of 2 years.
    3.  To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar and passed an assessment run by the club.

    JEP LEVEL 2

    1.  Take and pass Requirements of a dog show judge.
    2.  Pass points of a dog assessment.  
    3.  Attend a Breed Appreciation Day and pass a multiple choice exam.
    4.  View ring stewarding seminar and take online quiz.
    5.  Complete critique writing seminar and take online quiz.

    Eligibility to Judge
    A. Unlimited number of classes for the Otterhounds at Limited, Open or Championship shows without CC's.
    B. AV Classes and groups at Limited shows.

    B LIST NON BREED SPECIALIST

    1.  To have a minimum of 5 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the club.
    2.  To have judged a minimum of 20 Otterhound over a minimum of 2 years.
    3.  To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar and passed an assessment run by the club.

    C LIST BREED AND NON BREED SPECIALIST

    1. For aspirant judges of the breed and have the support of the club.
    2. Those who have judged the breed but do not qualify for the B List.

    JEP LEVEL 1

    1. Minimum of 5 years proven interest in pedigree dogs.
    2.  Attend a requirements of a dog show judge seminar (not mandatory to take & pass the examination.
    3.  Attend a conformation and movement seminar.
    4.  Complete minimum of 2 stewarding appointments.

    Eligibility to judge
    A. Up to 3 classes (4 if one is a puppy class) for any breed at limit or open shows.
